World Champion Sebastian Vettel has run into trouble in the aftermath of the German Grand Prix, getting stripped of his podium finish for leaving the track while overtaking Jenson Button.

Vettel was closely following Button in third on the penultimate lap, when he went through with the move which saw him finish in second place.

Vettel’s penalty demotes him to fifth meaning Button claims second place while Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen takes third.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso won the German Grand Prix extending his overall championship lead to 34 points.
