Sonny Bill Williams’ meeting with two Channel 9 executives on the weekend fueled speculation he is ready to return to the NRL, but the All Black utility says there was nothing to the early morning meet-up.

"It was just a catchup with a couple of mates, I've been sponsored by Channel 9 for the last five years so I caught up for breakfast with them," he says.

"It was just a casual breakfast catchup, and I think it's been blown out of proportion just like usual."

In an interview with Australia’s Fox Sports News, Williams was his typical cagey self when discussing the matter, saying he’s not ruling out a return to league, but he’s also not planning to leave rugby any time soon.

"It's definitely an option coming back to league, so is staying in rugby.  I'm really happy with what I'm doing at the moment, loving rugby, loving doing a bit of boxing on the side," he says.

"I know I'm really enjoying rugby at the moment and it's definitely not boring.

"Every time I put on that black jersey I feel like I perform as well as I could."

While he is constantly assaulted with a barrage of criticism on talkback radio, Williams says he does not let the negativity get to him.

"It comes with the territory, you can't really get sick of it, you just have to get used to it I guess,” he says, “I don't dwell on the negatives... I just get on with my business."
