World number one Caroline Wozniacki faced off with world number three Victoria Azarenka on Sunday in a charity tournament to raise money for victims of the Thailand floods.
Gate receipts from the World Tennis Charity Invitation in Hua Hin, as well as other proceeds from the tournament, will go towards the ongoing flood relief efforts in the country.
Players involved, including world number 18 John Isner and Thai tennis legend Paradorn Srichaphan, gave their own individual donations.
While this year's event was focused on victims of the floods which devastated Thailand in the latter half of 2011, the President of the country's Lawn Tennis Association, Suwat Lipatapanlop, said it also sent out a positive message to potential overseas visitors.
"We want tourists to understand that Thailand is clean and in order, there are no floods, we invite tourists from around the world to come visit us," he said.
Sunday's competition between Wozniacki - who competed in the tournament last year as well - and Azarenka was fierce, but the mood light.
Both ladies showed off some dance moves during breaks between sets, and joked with each other and the crowd.
Azarenka won in straight sets 6-2, 7-5, with both players glad of the work out ahead of a busy month, which culminates in the Australian Open, the first grand slam of the year.
Despite their elevated ranking, neither Azarenka nor Wozniacki has won a slam to date.
After the match, Azarenka said: "Thank you so much for having me in Thailand. You know, it was the first time and I enjoyed my time I hope everybody enjoyed our match and I hope to be back soon."
