World champion ice skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean were cheered on by thousands of people as they skated with the Olympic Torch.
The 1984 Olympic gold medallists performed a three-minute routine with the lit torch at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham.
After their performance the pair passed the flame on to torchbearer Corporal Daniel Whittingham.
Cpl Whittingham, 26, was seriously injured when his vehicle hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Afghanistan three years ago.
Whittingham needed 18 months of treatment and elected to have his left leg amputated below the knee.
He now has to wear a prosthetic leg and he probably received the biggest cheer of the day when he first received the flame.
Later on Torvill and Dean lit the cauldron in the centre of Nottingham.
