Action from Monday Night RAW spilled from the ring into the crowd, with video showing one fan being punched by a wrestler.

CM Punk had fought Vince McMahon, and was show-boating in the crowd after the fight when the incident occurred.

Punk was shoved as excited fans gathered around him, and responded with a backhand smack to a fan’s face, followed by a second punch; both captured on amateur video.

Later that night, a man took to Twitter claiming to be another fan, and the person who was actually “messing” with the wrestler. He tweeted: Punk “rocked an innocent fan” – meaning Punk punched the wrong person.

The real victim has since contacted police and says while he suffered no injuries, he did have some pain in his knees.

WWE has released the following statement:

“During last night's Raw televised event, WWE Superstar CM Punk exited the ring into the stands as part of the show. WWE security was unfortunately not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk's persona as a ‘bad guy,' fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him and one struck in him in the kidney and on the back. WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment. Other than this isolated incident, WWE always provides proper security to ensure the safety of our fans and our performers.”

Fan obviously elbowed cm punks upper back, so punk gave fan elbow back. Whoever allows entertainers into crowds responsible.
