World and Olympic shot put champion Valerie Adams has been selected as one of the three finalists for the 2011 Woman Athlete of the Year.
The other two are 5000m and 10,000m winner in Daegu Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya and sprint hurdler Sally Pearson of Australia.
The three finalists for the male athlete of the year are: sprinters Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt of Jamaica and Kenyan 800m runner David Rudisha.
The winners will be announced at the 2011 World Athletics Gala in Monaco next Saturday 12 November.
New Zealand’s Ron Robertson has already been announced as the World Male Master Athlete of the Year and will be in Monaco for the Gala.
