For our farmers, things like inspection, testing and certification of products is seen as; at best, a cost; at worst, a time wasting irritation.

But verification of products like lamb and beef is not going to go away.

Geneva-based Jeff Newell, a global expert on agriculture and economics, tells ASB Business why verification can be seen as a strength for New Zealand’s food industry.

No but the Lamb and beef will go as there is a point when farmers are getting sick of all this extra paper work for no return, I for one produce a quality product, all stock leave my farm in good condition, all well outside the withholding period for any chemicals they may of had, I sign the ASD form stating this and as far as Im concerned this should be enough.
