Former 1ZB talkback host Geoff Sinclair has died after a long illness, aged 79.
Trained as a teacher, he taught at Ponsonby Primary School and Avondale College, his students including then-future Auckland mayor John Banks, before switching to journalism.
He started out as a sports journalist, before moving into talkback radio with its introduction into New Zealand in the early 1970s.
Later on, he worked on Radio Pacific, the ZB network and newspaper Sunday News.
His autobiography, You Might Be Ugly, But You're Nice, came out in 1994.
