New Zealand Cricket today announced that scans confirmed a hamstring injury to Daniel Vettori that will see him out of action for the next few weeks.

The injury was aggravated before the start of play in the second Test match against Australia in Hobart with left-arm seamer Trent Boult named as a late replacement in the starting eleven.

Black Caps physiotherapist Paul Close said Vettori should be back for HRV Cup cricket in the New Year.

“Unfortunately Dan sustained a recurrence of his left hamstring injury that’s been problematic for him over the last few years.

“We expect him to be rehabbing the injury and back to full fitness within three to four weeks.  We are confident he will be back to play some HRV Cup cricket at some stage in the New Year,” he says.
