More than 100 new types of fireworks will debut in Beijing at the coming Spring Festival. They will replace the less safe and now banned bound-cylinder fireworks.

The traditional bound-cylinder fireworks typically explode a second time in the air. Beijing city authorities determined this safety risk to be too high and imposed a ban on their sale.

This year, several firework manufacturers have produced a wide range of new environmentally-friendly fireworks. They have brighter colours that can last much longer after the initial explosions.

Watch the video to see the new fireworks in action.
