WARNING: ANIMALS KICKED IN THE VIDEO
A truck carrying 30 pigs flipped onto its side in southern China this week, leaving the livestock roaming free on the highway, state television CCTV reported.
Traffic police were forced to close off part of the highway in Shuangliu country to ensure the safety of passing vehicles as well as the freed pigs.
While some of the pigs were cautious and remained in the pen, most strutted along the highway unfazed and grazed on roadside plants.
State media quoted the driver as saying that he crashed the truck when he swerved to avoid a car that had suddenly pulled out in front of him.
Traffic officers, together with friends that the truck driver had called upon to help, took over an hour to recapture all 30 pigs and transfer them onto another truck.
Highway workers then cleared the truck and debris from the accident site before traffic returned to normal.
