An investigation has been launched after film footage of two police cars skidding on a schoolground within metres of a children's bouncy castle appeared online.

The five-minute film clip, uploaded onto YouTube last week was shot by a concerned parent at a fundraising event at Auckland's Target Rd Primary School, The Dominion Post reported.

David MacGregor, who was at the event with his daughter, used his mobile phone to capture shots of the cars.

He said the two uniformed policemen drove children around the grounds doing "figure eights and donuts" with lights flashing and sirens blaring.

The cars skidded near children playing on a bouncy castle and lining up to get icecream, Mr MacGregor said.

The scene "made a mockery" of the Government's safe-driving message, he said.

Police National Headquarters spokeswoman Debbie Corney said Waitemata district police would request the original footage to establish its authenticity and would speak with staff to determine exactly what happened.

The event, a school fundraiser, took place in November 2008.

Mr MacGregor told the newspaper he had not posted the footage online until his phone memory filled up and he learned how to upload it to YouTube.

Interesting that the video has been removed by the user. What's the problem? Getting a bit embarrassed that your little five minutes of fame didn't shape up the way you wanted? David MacGregor, you remind me a bit of Mr Balloon Boy who made the news a few months ago. You need to find something to do - too much spare time is clearly not working. i would suggest you go on an evening course and learn more about how to upload videos and then next time you want to share some trite with the world you can do it a couple of years earlier than this sad and sorry little clip. My rating : SAD, SAD, SAD!!!

@Sean Thompson - you sound like an absolute idiot. Learn how to type before you leave posts in the future. It's very very obvious that your are just using this as an oppurtunity to have a go at the cops because you cant drive properly and lost your licence. Grow up and get a life loser.

The only reason this is a news story is because the media knows that people like to get stuck into the cops for the slightest little thing, boosting their ratings.

When I was at school we had fun rides on trikes, ATV's and in kit cars etc driving much faster than this video and no-one gave a rats. How are the cops sposed to be able to bond with the community when there are are the losers out there just waiting to put them on youtube or write about them on their twitter or whatever?

Good on the boys in blue, keep it up!

Looks like something stinted MacGregor's human development and social skills. I wonder what his daughter said or did, when he would not let her ride in the car.
It is the other way around - we can never have enough of the kids having this contact with the Police. Mrsku is right, may this be a reminder to increase these events!

COOL! what an innovative way for a school to raise money! its good to see the police involved in community initiatives and having fun with children. I'd love to see this at my child's school. And to whoever the spoilsport is that put this clip on the net, that backfired didn't it.
