LOL. I can't get funding for much needed prescription glasses.
Get out of McDonald's and KFC, put the taro away, do some exercise, drink water, and use common sense. Turia wants to come down on smoker's, beneficiaries, and non-maori but she wants me to pay for her stomach staple. Get real and get your priorities right. Give up your nice income and go on a minimum wage for 6mths, I'm sure the weight will fall off when you are living hand to mouth. I have no interest in paying for a fat person's lack of common sense, and lazyness. This has got to be the most priceless bulls**t that has come out of her mouth yet. Haha... at least it's not going in her mouth aye

Robert who made you God. Besides I think that stomach stapling is good. Yes it is important and helps alot for the bigger people, everyone has different metabolism not everyone is the same. Alot of skinny people sit on their ass too.My friend had the op and lost nine stones in four months with that operation done. She was 21 stones and now 12 stones so it has made improvements in her life and weight an she looks very good. I support Turia Tariana all the way.

This report is unfair in that it lacks balance.

At no time was it stated that Ms Turia's obesity was brought on by a life time of poor choices relating to eating the wrong foods at the wrong times and a lack of regular exercise. While the report does rightly point out that obesity causes complications such as high blood pressure and diabetes, it stops short of concluding that these are essentially self inflicted.
A more balanced report would have dug a little deeper at possible causes such as diet including but not limited to cultural diet preferences however politically incorrect that might be.

If Ms Turia genuinely wishes to help fight obesity and the other complications that arise from lifestyle illnesses, perhaps she could put more effort into promoting taking personality for ones health rather than prevailing on the tax payer to provide the gastric bypass at the bottom of the cliff.

Kind regards,
Terry
