Totally agree with Raj, I have a camera in my taxi, for 6 months now, Got mugged, and had a few "runners", went to the police with the footage, they said simply, it takes about 20 work hours, and its not important, they only thing they want the cameras for, is that, not if but when a driver gets killed it helps them catch they guys who did it, and control public anger, I think this is just a big joke.

Hey it's not about cathching somebody after they kill somebody. It's about how to stop it before it happens so i think camera's only doesnt help driver's should have some protection screen's

Sam, the government should not have to approve anything. My doctor's receptionist was attacked a few weeks ago. He automatically put up protection around the reception desk. Why? because he cared about his staff. Taxi's corps have never given a rats about their staff. They moan and protest the government should do something. It is not up to the government to supply a safe working environment for these drivers, it is up to their employer. The taxi companies have moaned recently that nothing has been done since the last death, and that is because they have sat on their butts doing nothing, they have not equipped the cabs with screens or cameras in the past 14 months.

They should go further and put in the protective screens the same as Sydney Cabs have. Camera's will not stop a drunk who is past caring, from killing a Taxi Driver.
