Hi John,This is typical of beauracracy gone wrong. The council said it was a lab, now they decided to change their mind. These poor people obviously have a loving and nurturing dog; the children are attached. I am a full believer in a dog is a consequence of their owner regardless of what breed they are. These people have obviously trained the dog well. Let them take their family member home and leave them be. This is not about the dog, this is about politics and now the politicians just want to save their own #@#@!@#. I really feel for the family, they are obviously distraught, my heart goes out to them.
I can't believe that idiot from the council! making comments like he will 'develop into a pitbull' - since when does a breed develop? is my english staffy going to develop into a poodle?? another comment about seeing 'children with multiple stitches from supposedly good family dogs'...what specific breed is he talking about in each of the cases he has seen? probably many different breeds and mixes but of course he does not get into specifics or facts because then he would have to admit that any dog can hurt someone. It seems 'pitbulls' (a term that is used way too loosely) take the rap for everything that any dog has and will ever do. This is a cross and nobody has proof of this dogs exact mix. the chances of this dog being the result of a pure breed pit crossed with a pure breed lab are minimal so to say he is mostly pit and should therefore be muzzled is unrealistic and unfair. this is just the OPINION of some self righteous moron who I doubt could prove a single claim he has made. It disgusts me that this ignorant twit can essentially hold a gun to this poor pups head. this INNOCENT creature was given a second chance by a family that is dedicated to providing him with a happy loving home and the council seems determined to take it from him. my heart goes to the family and their lovely pup Jaydee. what is happening to them is unnecessary and cruel. remember, this dog came from the council, passing all assessments! someone is in the wrong and it is NOT this family or Jaydee! if our councils can get away with doing this to these people who is to say who will be next?? This dog has been labelled guilty before any crime and the Hawkes Bay councils are totally in the wrong. Does that mean cos I'm part moari I am likely to join a gang bash my mrs and children and be general a menace to society so should be thrown in jail before i do? Just because he is part pitbull does not make him a danger, it all comes down to how he is treated by his owners.
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU JAYDEE. This is outrageous. We don't lock up a human before the crime takes place. This is clearly K9 discrimination. Get a DNA test. Jaydee's family are responsible owners. The events that have ocurred involving children as described by Mr Yule - you have to look at the owners not having experience or correct education. We humans have overtaken and now these once free living species of this world are suffering due to human infliction. WAKE UP! Jaydee is being destructed for a crime he has not even committed. Mr Yule and Napier DC you are setting a bad precedent here. This will have a chain effect on future K9's who look like Jaydee awaiting for adoption - what are future adoptees going to have in the back of their minds ... "oh doesn't that K9 look like Jaydee, we better not adopt him as if we apply for a responsibile dog owners license, the Animal Control Centre may take our K9 away" ... potential adoptees then go to local pet shops start buying multi-breed dogs which then supports Puppy Farming - dog owners start hiding their K9's and not registering or microchipping - LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE ... education, training of dog owners is the issue NOT if a K9 may look a certain way or color - Jaydee passed all relevant assessments to get adopted!!! there just like humans, they are guard dogss, they are there t0 protect your home,the living people at the house and even the car, i reackon they should have never put that dog down!!. thats just sad for the family and even the kids that enjoyed him!, what? cant new zealand have dogs now? thanks to the law??and even the cops??????
There are worse things in life your dog could develop into than a Pit Bull! For example the other night I dreamt my old “Bull Terrier” developed into a “hairless Chinese Crested Dog”. Heaven forbid that should happen.This video does highlight two very important things concerning breed bans. One, is whatever other qualifications politicians and the likes pushing for breed bans might have, on the topic of dogs, they are clueless wonders. Michael Laws, Lawrence Yule, Brian Neeson, Tim Shadbolt and this guy - none have shown even a rudimentary understanding of canine knowledge -yet all have wanted the public to believe if you can annihilate certain dog breeds – cities and town streets are going to be safer places to be in. The second thing it highlights is breed specific laws don’t just target dogs on ban lists and their owners, but then targets any mixed bred dog which happens to look similar to those on ban lists. If I look at JD, I see a dog with a typical mixed bred phenotype. It doesn’t matter if he was half Pit Bull and half Labrador, because you could take any number of other breeds, mix them, and they could come out looking like JD does.
In an American dog temperament test: AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER Dogs tested:772 Passed:664 Failed:108 Percentage pass:86.0% Thats higher than: BICHON FRISE at 76.7% BORDER COLLIE at 81.1% CARDIGAN WELSH CORGI at 78.6% CHIHUAHUA at 71.1% COCKER SPANIEL at 81.9% and so on and so forth.. Pitbulls are used as fighting dogs because of their high pain tolerance. This is also what makes them a great pet around kids (if trained properly), because all the poking and prodding and pulling of tails, doesnt matter to them, as much as it would another breed. Dont punish a dog for having the potential to be dangerous. Every dog has teeth and "animal instinct", not just pitties.
