Great news! Our trip to the Masai Mara begins in 10 days. we've been there three times in the past, but have yet to see a crossing. Sounds like this year we may be lucky. Thank you for your update.
Thanks for presenting such a balanced perspective. The comments from the game warden are evidence of many years of experience with wildlife in the wider Serengeti eco-system. The new road in the northern Serengeti will not interfere with the wildebeest migration. Increased poaching activity is the ultimate concern here. People from Musoma need access to markets and a better road for easy transport of goods and services. Conservationists should focus on collecting enough money, not signatures, and hire more wardens for anti poaching effort. They can't prevent ordinary Tanzanians from developing their own communities at the expense of western interest. I’m sure African leaders such as President Kikwete can make better informed decisions that affect his country and people.
