The referendum was worded correctly. If you smack your child you are committing a crime, If Guy smokes pot Guy is committing a crime, If I beat my child I am committing a crime, If I kill my child, I'm innocent because I'm a poor and uneducated and belong to group that is 12% of the population but commits 80% of the crime.
NOW which rights do you want to protect! Guy.

Children have rights, this seems to be forgotten by many people. Why do we protect adults from assault but not children, our most vulnerable citizens? I am voting YES to protect children and retain a law that is working well

The referendum is worded so badly, it is possible to vote 'No' and still support the law. It's ridiculous and idiotic, and means the result is meaningless - but the idiots behind it won't understand that, will they?
