Hhamilton looks very strange with this stupid change. What about another 'h' for the Morioris - Hhhamilton - after all the Morioris being here first. Their descendants must surely claim their rights as well. What a dreadful shame that the Morioris were cannibalized and the moas were exterminated. Don't think for a moment that Hamilton will never be claimed, after all it is situated on the banks of the Waikato river which all New Zealanders no longer own. Watch out Fhather Chhristmas you may be next on the list!
I think it is a great idea. It is a mutual agreement both win. For the people that are against this decision, c'mon and play fairly. There is no harm done in this decision, so stop your moaning and get over it please. Have a merry xmas to all.
One wonders how Maori spelt anything before the Europeans came along, oh that's right, they did not have a written language, little own the letter 'h'.
What a great idea!!! Everybody wins!!! No losers ... just like the flag issue. This crowd is so cool and hip ... unlike the meddling crowd preceding.
What a complete co out, another decision by out of touch politicians to appease their Maori Mates. Why don't this government resign and just hand all the power to them.
At last! and now we can all sleep soundly again!! What's happened to the moderator? Perhaps doing some Christmas shopping!
So much for Democracy! The current government has continued to turn a blind eye on the democratic process and priciples. Enjoy your time in power as it will be short lived.
This whole debarcle is just a crock, when europeans first came to there shores in their sailing ships with navigational instruments, medicine, books, charts, maps, clothes firearms ect, they found a people in the stone age with little more than a stone club let alone an alphabet, so waht gives ? how is it maori can now have a say on english spellings ?
