Roger is a politician who can see the bigger picture and prepared to do what IS right to achieve the best for all NZers. GST was the right way to address a fairer taxation system, it's just a pity it wasn't set at say 20% therefore allowing the elimination of all the unfair income based taxes. It would have also removed the need for most of the tax dept idiots who are forever trying to squeeze out of us more $'s and better still, would put all of the workers income into where it belongs, the hands of those who earned it. We would then have had people saving without the need for further nanny state interventions with the likes of KiwiSaver. The compliance costs on business would have disappeared, and given all the potential to grow and put NZ back where we once were rather than where we are now, deeply in the red and one banana short of being a banana republic.

If National wants to survive for another term it would make sense not to let old Roger back into cabinet. Give him a seat in parliament, and let him ramble on and whinge all he likes, he's perfectly allowed to do that.
