Police are hopeful a television item will help them find who killed a security guard in west Auckland in November.

The body of Charanpreet Singh Dhaliwal, 22, was found early on November 18 at a construction site near the Lincoln Road overbridge of the Northwestern Motorway in Henderson, about 14km west of downtown Auckland.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Dhaliwal died of head injuries.

Police have not charged anybody over Mr Dhaliwal's death and are hopeful an item on Police 10-7 on Thursday will help them.

In particular, police want to speak to four young men who were seen in the area before Mr Dhaliwal's death.

Detective Sergeant Murray Free said the men were all Polynesian, aged between 17 and 20, and wearing casual street clothing.

"Police want the wider Polynesian community to be aware of this screening. Someone in this community may have vital information that could help police solve this homicide."

Mr Dhaliwal was working his first shift as a security guard at the site, which had been a frequent target of scrap metal thieves.
