The Internet is the economy of the 21st century - if we miss it over the next 2-4 years NZ is in serious shape of dropping off the world map. I was able to surf the net on the iPhone 3G traveling at 100km on a highway 40km outside Ottawa Ontario (while my father drove) like I was sitting in my house in front of a computer. Come on Vodafone and Government, sort it out. Oh, I wasn't just surfing for the fun of it while in the car - I was actually doing research on price comparisons - helping to craft this simple note.

Vodafone AU is a little cheaper and offers more plans.
Optus cheaper again, you can even buy the phone outright for prepay at $749 for 8GB, $849 16GB. You get a good amount of data, credit to use on Txt and Calling and the phone cheaper from all 3 iPhone providers.

If you look at Vodafone NZ's mobile broadband plans, it's $50nz for 1GB, you get a Vodem free on 24month plan. So that $200 is being spread between 600mins of calls and the cost of the device...... Seems pretty steep to me.

I can guarantee that any Kiwi that moves to Aussie will not regret it, you might want to consider it. There is also a huge Kiwi contingency over here so you don't loose your Nationalism!!

However vodafone is milking the fact that they are the only ones in New Zealand that have the iPhone, i do think the prices are a bit Ridiculous $250 a month IS A LOT OF MONEY!
