Women’s tennis tour bosses have admitted that they are taking action to quieten down the games shreikers.

It is a response to the increasing volume of complaint about the noise made by players like have Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka.

It is been called “cavewoman” tennis and likened to barnyard impressions.

Closer to play - the fans and commentators have had enough of the racket on centre court.

The Women's Tennis Association says they know fans and some players have had enough - and they will work on reducing the grunting.

But finding a peaceful solution won't be easy. Sharapova was at full volume as a 12-year-old, while Azarenka said it was the grunting that helped her overcome being a weak child.

Whether it is the shreiks or the shoes, the noise on centre court now rivals some rock concerts and the prospect of Sharapova and Azarenka meeting in the final already has some fans blocking their ears.

I'd rather have pins stuck in my eyes and the soles of my feet beaten than endure a tennis match involving a screamer.
