In South Wairarapa, animals have been using a river as a loo. Over a 25km stretch they graze along the Pahaoa River, and if they need to empty their bowels whilst standing in the water, that is exactly what they do.

SHAME on the Riddels for their lack of enviromental decency, not once but TWICE!! And shame on the people (Morris, Robert and co) that pull others down for standing up and doing whats right for their communities and their enviroment!Who really cares if the neighbour was disgruntled...., the main issue here is that the Riddels needed to be pulled up for their obvious lack of enviromental intelligence.
So here's to the neighbour.... that stood up, shouted out and made US of N.Z aware of the issues that some communities incounter on our most precious waterways which are our LIFELINE!
And thanks to C Live for reporting on such an important subject.

Damaging the riverbed is not OK however perhaps Campbell Live needs to be a bit more "perceptive" about the real motive behind one person's pursuit to discredit neighbours.

You people lack simple honesty,
In a community effected by Masterton District council historically dumping THOUSANDS of cubic meters of sewage into the Ruamahunga river on a weekly basis, your more concerned about the actions of one man.
Does that not make you wonder?
The Ruamahunga river is a vital life line to all those south of Masterton.
We see reports of the water quality in the local paper and the fact it seems to 3rd world standards and not fit for stock.
If you are so truly appalled by the actions of one man, how come your not speaking out on the actions of an entire community?
You must admit it does appear hypocritical?

This farmer is just LAZY and lacks planning skills. He makes all those farmers who do their part look bad as a whole. Comments from 'Robert' reflect such bad attitudes. First the rubbish on the bank and now this. The poor neighbour and those others who use this waterway must be so annoyed and good on C Live for reporting on this.

Ah, Robert. Would this be the same Robert who stuck up for the Riddell's in the comments section of the last story? (see: http://www.3news.co.nz/Home/Story/tabid/209/articleID/59924/cat/84/Default.aspx) Yes, I think so. You clown.

Farmers like this scumbag will continue to pollute for as long as it is profitable. Local councils need to toughen up and start hitting these people where it hurts: in their pockets. And not pathetic little fines either. I see no reason why the maximum RMA $200k fine should not be imposed in this case. He's a repeat offender who clearly couldn't care less.

All I can say is..
Isn’t nice that in weather that has been over 30.c for the last two weeks that some farmer has the decency to put them where they have access to water and shade?
Though I must admit I would love to see the team at Campbell live toilet train the live stock??
I also wonder what mandate TV3 has against the Riddell’s?
And why is it always the same person bringing this matter of high urgency to our attention?
Whilst I do not condone what historically has been accepted farming practices it does appear that TV3 and Campbell live are try to be the Devils advocate in what seems to be a case of a disgruntled neighbour?

I agree with Kirsty.. I do not hold famers in very high regard because of what they do to the environment. I believe they should pay for the cost of cleaning up the river as well. and be fined if they pollute the river again. They may own the land but they do not own the water ways.

To the Riddell family...SHAME ON YOUR UNDIES. This breathtaking arrogance with regard to your farming practices needs to cease. Just because you have selfishly dumped your rubbish and grazed your cattle on this stretch of the river for eons doesn't mean you have the right to S*** IN YOUR OWN NEST nor the nests of other people downstream!!!
