Training at Cornwall Park is far more chilled out than Mt Smart Stadium but the Warriors don't mind the change.
“Yeah its good being at Cornwall Park, it’s a bit closer to home. I live just down the road, it’s about a four minute drive so I’m pretty happy to get to wake up a bit later,” says Lewis Brown.
New coach Brian ‘Bluey’ McLennan has been on board since September, and the side appear to be adjusting to their new coach.
“Everyone’s adapting and everyone’s coping well with all his theories and that, but all the plays are pretty similar. Everyone in the comp does the same sort of thing so just about who can do them the best I think,” says Shaun Johnson.
While the plays are similar, the team is enjoying a different personality.
“He's a top bloke,” says Brown. “He’s a pure Kiwi, he loves being around the boys, and we love being around him. He explains himself well, he looks upon our footy side with a lot of respect and we respect him a lot too.”
And it seems the feelings are mutual.
“They're just a wonderful group of players and there’s so much potential and they've already had some good success, and we're all just trying to work really hard together to be the best we can be,” says McLennan.
The relationship between players and coach is sure to be tested though when the Warriors play Manly on March 4.
The team and new coach wanting revenge over the team that won last years Grand Final.
