It may have been a one off success, but I suspect a lot of damage was done to New Zealand because of the price gouging that went on. We have one relation not coming for Christmas because they think prices are too high from feedback they got from other relatives who came for the world cup. I suspect this may be repeated quite a bit over the coming years , so we need to subtract this lost income from the profit made.
Coarse it was or we would'nt have won the bloody thing!!A good final is always a close one. There was a few nerve's which was expected in a rugby world cup final, but the best team of the tournament did win!!Remember ya can't win everything but we did win the one that counts!!!!!
Correction :- It should 'not' get taxpayer funding, ever !
Overall very sucessful, although Eden Park could have been bigger some of the refereeing was suspect and the IRB are simply pathetic, the party atmosphere was very addictive. I'd like to see England try and top that in 2015.
Success was winning The CUP and that's all that matters!!!
No, it was crap, and should have been awarded to Japan. It is, and will remain, a sadistic minority sport. It should get taxpayer funding, but support itself through ticket and apparel sales.
Well, the All Blacks won.......
From a sporting perspective, the RWC was reasonably successful. The economic benefits have probably been dubious. Some businesses in Auckland and Wellington would have obtained a direct benefit, but many would not have. In the regions you would be struggling to identify any significant business increase that lasted more than a week. The promised benefits from business networking and potential tourism may or may not be realised. Looking ahead, I think New Zealanders should be wary of any economic benefits promised from hosting other large sporting events, i.e. the Commonwealth Games.
Yes. After first round, I already told all around that All Blacks had already got the cup, but just some procedures need to go through. I was definitely right.
I a no expert, nor have I been following it, but I didn't realise NZ had a car entered? Or is it a kiwi driver?
