Was the force used at the Dotcom mansion excessive?

On January 20th, two helicopters and 76 police officers arrived at the Dotcom mansion to arrest members of the "Megaconspiracy" for copyright infringement. Dotcom’s head of security – who held two registered guns on the property - alleges unlocked doors were smashed open, and children, staff and Mrs Dotcom were held by armed police. What do you think about the level of force used to arrest those at the Dotcom mansion?

Since when has trial by media become the norm? These programs rely on sensationalism to keep the viewers watching — it's all about the numbers folks! The stories are often one sided and many are biased beyond belief. No self-respecting government minister should ever buy into this game, nor should so many gullable viewers.

Does Mr Dotcom now qualify for unemployment benefit?

Thursday 8/3/12 - Have just watched your program on the people who have been affected by the "freezing" of assets and who haven't been paid as a result. Pathetic reporting. I do feel for the people who were working for Dot Com and who are owed money or have lost their jobs. That's terrible. But your reporting doesn't take into account that Dot Com could be guilty of serious fraud and it may be that some (if not all) of the blame should be directed at him. "Freezing" of assets which have been gained by potentially "criminal activity" is a way of ensuring that no one benefits from the "criminal activity". These innocent people who have been caught up in this episode should be directing their frustrations at Dot Com. Shame on you, Campbell Live, for trying your hardest to paint a different picture of what Mr Dot Com may be guilty of. Find something else to focus on. I'm over this crap.

I would like to know how many of the Ports of Auckland Office and admin staff are on contract, and if they are going to reduce the numbers in staff. With so many less workers they shouldn't need as many admin or executive staff.

this man has been branded quily until proven innocent. 76 armed defenders for a non violent accusation, come on how embarassing for NZ to have been pulled into this. what his poor family had to endure, it would have been terrifying. The US must be scrambling to find something to stick with this guy else they and the NZ govt, police are going to have a lot of egg on their faces

The poor guy is innocent and I can't believe how all the actors, oops! I mean Police officers forced themselves into his home and took everything and froze all of his assets. So in other-words, what they are saying is that he is guilty without even going to trial first. What happened to innocent until proven guilty in Kiwi land? But "Oh No”, New Zealand has to bow down to the big mouth American's and there Hollywood stunts. The helicopter coming down spraying up dirt and stone all over his cars, smashing down doors, scaring the hell out of the visitors on his birthday. Yeah good on you guys, pick the day when it’s his birthday, yep brilliant stuff, just like a Hollywood movie. The poor guy and his family and friends must have been terrified and I don’t blame them. You could of come knocking on his door with a search warrant you bunch of idiots, the police in New Zealand must be bored out of there brains trying to catch rapists and murderers and child bashers, pedophiles that get off scot free or worst get off on bail the same day to commit another crime. Yep just go after a brilliant mind like Kim Dotcom and destroy him because he has made loads of money. I think to be perfectly honest, it’s all about greed from the US and wanting to take over the world, the big mouth American’s.

I am absolutely disgusted at what is happening to this poor man and his family,I must admit i did have my doubts until i saw the interview last night.I think dotcom is a highly intelligent and very clever man,and he deserves everything he has made from mega upload.Leave him alone, why dont you concentrate on getting the bail conditions changed and keep murderes in jail where they belong. What about all these finance companys that have actually stolen money from people, their assets should be frozen, sold off, then given back to the people they stole from.Dotcom hasnt stolen or hurt anyone.About time this country showed some balls.

Beware NZ service providers! your next! If Mr Dot Com can be arrested for providing a service that allows users to share content, then ISP's therefore should also be held accountable for providing a service for users to upload and download content, so when can we expect FBI and NZ armed raids on Telecom, Orcon, Xtra etc ??? (for those who can't notice, this is a sarcastic statement).

omg!! if the policing force of new zealand and the world put the same amount of effort in arresting and catching child abusers and rapists and cold blooded killers as they did in this poor man and his family (kim dotcom) the world would be a better place!!! thier time and money should be used for real criminals not innocent business men and there familys!!!!

Going after Kim Dotcom for not policing the service he provides is like going after brewery's for not stopping people from drink driving. Bloody ridiculous !!!

Honestly what is wrong with the police in this country i am inbaressed to find out that they went into this mans house with such force. How could he be a threat in a terrorist way, he has a wife pregnant with twins. he is a victim in my eyes. This and the raid on the so called Urawera gang area an embaressment , do we have this terrorist unit of cops with nothing to do that jump at the chance to get thier kit out and have a play or something.
