Wear white armbands to support Fiji democracy - CTU

Fri, 16 Sep 2011 12:19p.m.

The Council of Trade Unions is encouraging rugby fans to wear white armbands to the South Africa- Fiji game this Saturday night to show their support for a democratic Fiji.

“Whichever team your supporting at the game, we’re asking you to show support for a fair and democratic Fiji by wearing an armband at the game,” says secretary Peter Conway.

Fiji is currently ruled by the country's military, headed by Cdre Frank Bainimarama.

“Trade unionists have been assaulted, harassed and arrested simply for doing their job," says Mr Conway.

"We’re calling for a return to democracy and a reversal of these draconian laws, and asking rugby supporters to show their support for this by wearing an armband at the game."

A group will be giving out armbands and information about Fiji at the game, being held at Wellington Regional Stadium.

This continents will keep the World Cup and the Fijians ex-All Blacks must respect the Fijians wearing a White Arm Band to represent Fijian tradtional historic culture's. Without the above agreedments there's no Fijian's Rugby World Cup fans.. Go home Fiji, until the above are solved..
