Wairarapa, Kapiti, Wellington and Marlborough: Scattered showers, clearing this evening. Occasional light rain developing tomorrow afternoon, becoming persistent and heavier in the west later.
Nelson to Fiordland: Isolated showers for Nelson and Buller today, otherwise fine. Rain developing tomorrow morning, with heavy some falls.

Friday: Rain or showers, heavy falls in the west, but little if any rain reaching eastern areas. Northwest gales from Wairarapa to Marlborough.
Saturday: Rain or showers in most places, with snow lowering to 800 metres in Marlborough later, and to 300 metres in the far south. Cold southerlies spreading north, reaching Taranaki to Wairarapa at night.
Sunday: Rain or showers in most places, snow level in the south lifting.
Chatham Islands: Rain developing on Friday and northerlies strengthening. Rain or drizzle at times on Saturday, and northerlies abating. A change to very cold showery southwesterlies on Sunday.
