Buller, Westland and Fiordland: Mainly fine today. Showers developing tomorrow, then turning to rain south of Hokitika in the afternoon or evening, with a few heavy falls. Snow lowering to 500 metres in Fiordland tomorrow night.
Southland: Fine today and at first tomorrow. Rain developing tomorrow night, with snow to 500 metres.
Chatham Islands: Occasional showers, clearing tomorrow afternoon.
Saturday: North Island, occasional showers in the west turning to rain from Taranaki southwards late in the day, mainly fine with high cloud elsewhere, but a few showers in Wairarapa later. South Island, rain in the west, with some heavy falls, easing to a few showers, cloudy periods with scattered brief rain in the east.
Sunday: North Island, mainly fine with high cloud in the east but a few showers in Wairarapa, rain or showers elsewhere. South Island, showers in the west turning to rain, mainly dry with high cloud in the east.
Monday: North Island, rain spreading to most places, only scattered falls in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. South Island, periods of rain in the west, mainly dry with high cloud elsewhere.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods increasing on Saturday and northerlies developing. A few showers and strengthening northerlies on Sunday. Rain and strong northerlies on Monday.
