URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST IN: Buller, Wellington, Wairarapa

PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN FOR BULLER AND THE TARARUA RANGE
A front is expected to move north over the South Island during Sunday
and the lower North Island Monday morning. In the west of central New
Zealand, rain associated with the front is likely to intensify from
Sunday evening, bringing a period of significant heavy rain to Buller
and the Tararua Range. 120 to 170mm of rain is expected in the ranges
of Buller from Sunday evening to the early hours of Monday, while 90
to 130mm is likely in the Tararua Range from Sunday night to Monday
morning.
People are advised this amount of rain is likely to make rivers and
streams rise rapidly, could cause slips and surface flooding, and
make driving conditions hazardous.

from 2pm Sunday to 5am Monday, 120 to 170mm of rain is expected,
mainly in the ranges. Maximum rainfall intensities of 20 to 25mm/hr
from Sunday evening.

Northland: Cloud increasing today, with a few showers tomorrow.
Auckland to Wellington, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country: Moslty cloudy, with pathcy drizzle in the west turning to rain overnight, and some heavy falls developing on the ranges. Rain spreading elsewhere tomorrow, but gradually clearing south of Taranaki.
Gisborne to Wairarapa: Mostly fine today. Rain spreading north tomorrow, but clearing south of Napier later.
Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and northern Westland: Rain in the west, with some heavy falls from this afternoon, and scattered falls spreading further east this evening. Rain easing to isolated showers on the ranges tomorrow morning, and clearing later.
Southern Westland and Fiordland: Rain in southern Westland clearing this afternoon, then mostly fine.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland: Cloudy periods with scattered showers, clearing from the south tomorrow.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods, with a period of rain tomorrow.
