Waikato to Kapiti, including the central high country and also Nelson: Occasional showers, some heavy, with isolated thunderstorms and hail today.
Marlborough and North Canterbury: Fine spells. Scattered showers, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail in Marlborough tomorrow afternoon.
Remainder of Canterbury and Otago: Scattered showers today, some heavy with isolated thunderstorms and hail. Fine spells and the odd shower tomorrow.
Buller and Westland: Rain, heavy and thundery at times, easing to showers tonight.
Fiordland and Southland: Showers, clearing tomorrow evening.
Chatham Islands: A few showers, turning to thundery rain for a time tomorrow morning.
Tuesday: Mainly fine, just the odd shower clipping areas exposed to the weak southwest flow.
Wednesday: Mainly fine.
Thursday: North Island, mainly fine, though cloud increasing from Taranaki to Wellington. South Island, rain developing in the west and south, snow lowering to 900 metres in the south at night. High cloud increasing further north.
Friday: North Island, a period of rain or showers spreading north along with a southerly change. South Island, showers clearing and southerlies gradually dying away.
Chatham Islands: Occasional showers on Tuesday with fresh southwesterlies, clearing Wednesday with winds dying away. Mainly fine Thursday with northwesterlies developing.
