Marlborough and Canterbury: Showers and cold southwesterlies, with snow to 600 metres. Clearing from the south this evening.
Otago, Southland and Fiordland: Showers with snow to 400 metres and southwest gales. Showers easing and clearing this afternoon and the winds easing.
Chatham Islands: Showers and cold southwesterlies developing this morning.
Saturday: North Island, fine with early frosts inland. A few morning showers about the east coast clearing. South Island, Cloud increasing in the west with rain developing in Fiordland. Mainly fine in the east.
Sunday: North Island, mainly fine, cloud increasing in the west with patchy drizzle about the high ground south of Taupo. South Island, rain spreading from the south to most places, with heavy falls in the west. Gradually clearing from the south later.
Monday: North Island, Rain spreading to most places, clearing south of Taranaki to Hawkes Bay later. South Island, Rain north of Hokitika and North Otago, clearing then mainly fine, but isolated afternoon and evening showers about the ranges.
Chatham Islands: A few early showers on Saturday, then fine spells and strong cold southwesterlies easing. Cloudy periods and westerlies on Sunday. A period of rain with a southerly change on Monday.
