Wednesday: North Island, showers, heavy and possibly thundery over the northern half. South Island, rain or showers in the west clearing. Rain elsewhere with cold southerlies strengthening. Snow lowering to 300 metres in the south and 600 metres about Canterbury.
Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods on Monday with northerlies. Cloud increasing on Tuesday with northeasterlies becoming strong. Rain on Wednesday.
