Manawatu to Wellington, also Nelson: Mainly fine, but the odd shower possible late afternoon or evening.
Marlborough: Showers developing this afternoon, some heavy and possibly thundery with hail.
Canterbury: Becoming mainly fine this morning, but isolated afternoon showers inland.
Buller and Westland: A few showers.
Fiordland, Southland and Otago: A few showers in the south, spreading north from afternoon.
Chatham Islands: A few showers, turning to thundery rain this morning, easing to a few showers this afternoon.
Tuesday: Mainly fine, just the odd shower clipping areas exposed to the weak southwest flow.
Wednesday: Mainly fine.
Thursday: North Island, mainly fine, though cloud increasing from Taranaki to Wellington. South Island, rain developing in the west and south, snow lowering to 900 metres in the south at night. High cloud increasing further north.
Friday: North Island, a period of rain or showers spreading north along with a southerly change. South Island, showers clearing and southerlies gradually dying away.
Chatham Islands: Occasional showers on Tuesday with fresh southwesterlies, clearing Wednesday with winds dying away. Mainly fine Thursday with northwesterlies developing.
