New Zealand point guard Tai Webster has accepted a basketball scholarship at the University of Nebraska.

Webster, the youngest player to represent the Tall Blacks at age 17, made his international debut at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Venezuela in July.

He impressed hugely in that failed campaign, producing game-high scores of 21 against Angola and 18 against world No.4 ranked nation Greece.

Other US colleges had reportedly offered scholarships to Webster, who made his National Basketball League debut for the championship-winning Auckland Pirates this year.

Webster's father Tony was a long-serving NBL player while his older brother Corey has played for the Tall Blacks and the New Zealand Breakers.
