Shane Cameron's manager is confident losing some weight won't cause the boxer problems when he fights for a world championship.

Cameron will be fighting Danny Green in Melbourne in November for the IBO world cruiserweight title, made vacant after American title holder Antonio Tarver failed a drug test in June.

Cameron has a 29-2 record and scored his biggest victory earlier this year as a heavyweight when he knocked out American Monte Barrett, but he needs to get his weight down from the 99kg he fought Barrett at to get below the cruiserweight maximum of 90.7kg.

But his manager Ken Reinsfield says getting down to that weight won't sap Cameron's strength for the fight.

"I think that's what the Green camp are thinking, that he might lose some power to get down to cruiser. I'm sure that's what they're hoping, but I don't think so," he told NZ Newswire.

"He's in the mid 90s and it's not such a big ask to get down to that weight. I think he'll take his power with him."

Green lost the title to Tarver last year but the title was stripped from Tarver after he recorded a positive drug test shortly before a draw with Lateef Kayode in June this year.

This meant Green was able to fight for the vacant title against an opponent of his choosing, and that prompted Cameron's team to seek the fight.

Negotiations two years previously had been unsuccessful but the defeat of Barrett made Cameron much more marketable.

"At the end of the day Shane got a lot of attention after that fight and this is a reward for that good victory, a shot at the world title."

Green will be going for his fourth world title but Reinsfield says Cameron is confident he can take the title back to New Zealand.

"Danny Green is the crown prince of this division in Australia, and I can't see why he can't take him."
