The incident oddly resembles the plot to the Dr Seuss story The Zax

Police in St Cloud, Minnesota said an argument over sidewalk etiquette led to a man being stabbed because he wouldn't move out of another man's way.

The 31-year-old victim told police he and the other man were walking toward each other on a sidewalk early Friday morning. Each man refused to make way for the other.

The St Cloud Times reported that the argument escalated into a physical fight. When it was over, the victim noticed he'd been stabbed several times in the stomach.

The incident eerily parallels the plot to the Dr Seuss story The Zax, in which a north-going Zax and a south-going Zax meet face-to-face, and refuse to move out of each other's way.

In the story, however, a highway is eventually built around the two, and no one is stabbed.

Authorities said the St Cloud victim's injuries were minor.

I can not believe what not only the article stated, but these two posted comments. You two are along the same thought-process that led to the fisticuffs and stabbing. Being a gentleman and courteous citizen, a Christian-like attitude would have saved a newspaper some ink. I say, how sad this whole thing is! Glad I don't live in Minnesota! Peace all!

Its a hard one really. Although I mostly agree with Chris, I can understand and even support someone standing up for common courtesy. It sounds terrible but hopefully the person not following the road rules on the sidewalk was the one who got stabbed and he will be a bit more considerate next time.

If you continually allow disrespect to festor you end up fostering a savage society anyway, in my opinion. The only more peaceable option I can see is to entice the aggressor into attacking, take the hit then prosecute under the law.

It's odd to admit to one's self that this is the world in which we live today. When two grown men are so narcissistic, practicing in solipsism in the most atrocious of ways, that common courtesy goes soaring out the nearest hole in the wall. I can only hope that both men are charged with the highest crimes permitted by law, following a proper shanking and assault of sodomy while in jail or prison. I can't imagine it would help them to realize there are other people on this planet as well, but in truth, they have it coming to them.
