Rugby fans coming to Wellington for 2011 Rugby World Cup matches will experience more than just the game itself.
The Wellington City Council has tonight outlined the details of a four week long Festival of Carnivale which will coincide with the World Cup.
"Each game is still only going to be around 90 minutes," Wellington mayor Celia Wade-Brown says. "There's still a lot of other time to fill, pockets to empty and opportunities for people to be converted."
So to convert people into what the mayor calls Wellington lovers, 200 events will take place in the capital - including a French cartoonist creating caricatures of rugby players.
The capital is expected to draw around 30,000 rugby fans during Rugby World Cup, and at its heart will be the Wharewaka.
And while the waka intended for the building is yet to be installed due to an ongoing dispute with its owners, tonight Ms Wade-Brown indicated a resolution could be at hand.
