If the Mormons are not a cult then Disneyland is reality. They have some really weird beliefs, polygamy for one, I’m not totally against polygamy if you could put up with the nagging and I suppose its fun in the bedroom, but hey it’s weird. You have to tithe, that is pay 10 per cent of your earnings or you won’t get into heaven, god wants your money, it is compulsory. They have Prophets and one in particular called Marv from around 1950 said that the earth is one of many worlds, part of a Multiverse. You are not allowed to drink coffee and they think Jesus visited America and spoke to the Indians. They are seriously delusional and quite clearly fit the definition of a Cult. However, they do some good things; one would think they could do them without believing in Multiverses, that makes them scary, unreliable and not suited to the White House.

When any person comes under public scrutiny there is a big interest in the things that make them "different", and people have a habit of being sensationalist rather than genuinely interested - I like the Im a Mormon campaign - it shows that diversity, even within a group is great - it also shows that Mormons are normal people trying to do good things in the community. Some good information on www.lds.org - it always pays to check out information straight from the source then you can make up your own mind :)

If by cult you mean a group that recognises Christ as their Saviour, encourages its members not to seclude themselves but to be educated and mix with people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds, get out into their communities and be involved and be a 'part of the process', and in general to do good to all men within their individual capabilities, then I would have to agree. Yes, we are a cult. Along with most other religions, I imagine.
I'd encourage any who are curious about our lifestyle or our beliefs to visit a worship service on any Sunday, talk to 'one'.
