The combination of mobile phones and pornography is proving an effective business model.
That is according to a report from analyst telecoms firm Juniper Research, who say Video chat services are expected to be the largest contributors to a mobile adult market worth $4.9 billion by 2013.
The report also found that premium adult content is proving relatively robust despite the economic crisis.
But it is thought the tightening of laws governing the availability of adult content may lead to weakening profits.
Recently Indonesia and Switzerland set tighter restrictions for accessing adult content, and providers in the US remain wary of offering pornographic content on their portals.
However, the popularity of on-portal adult content is booming in Europe and parts of Latin America. It is predicted Western Europe will remain the largest market for mobile adult services for some time, followed by the Far East & China.
However, the report commented that premium content providers are becoming increasingly concerned at the volume of free adult content available on the Internet.
