The rare white whale was spotted near the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland

A rare pure white whale has put on a stunning show in Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands.

The calf, thought to be only a few weeks old, circled a family boat, breaching and tail slapping. They described the experience as the highlight of their lives.

There is speculation the calf’s mother could be the famous white whale Migaloo, although the only other whales nearby were black.

At last report, the trio were heading south.
