Roads in the Whangarei CBD from Rust Avenue to the Dent Street roundabout have been closed due to a gas leak.
Buildings in the area have also been evacuated.
People are advised to stay out of the area, and building owners in nearby streets are told if they smell any gas, to evacuate the premises.
