Police have examined an area in and around a Whangarei stream where they believe a 21-year-old woman was murdered on Friday.
A Whangarei man has been charged with the murder and is due to appear in court this morning.
The names of the accused and victim are suppressed.
Police still want to talk to anyone who was in the area about 2am on Friday morning.
