Prince William is due to open the new Supreme Court building in Wellington this morning. What do you think of the design?

They put a lot of thought into the ways in which the new building reflects but doesn't replicate the old one but most of these are so subtle you only notice them after you are shocked by the striking facade. Also 4million for a bronze sun screen is excessive.

Rather hard to judge from the photo. Looks a bit like a big crown -which symbolises authority.

Judging by the comments, the only way to please everyone is to either build a "shoebox-style" building with featureless, blank walls - or go back to living in caves. That'll please the critics. Or not.

Apart from the rusty design I wonder if once again they haven't made it to small.
We have a tendancy to so that as what happened with Christchurch womens, the day the thing opened it was deemed to small.
What with the new laws etc are they not thinking to small?
