Democracy is a failure based on the illusion of power to the people. The first thing national did when they came into power was change the law to suit their high earning backers not for NZers, but for themselves, and then you get Labour who changed the drinking age just so they could get the youth and hospitality industries vote so they could stay in power, again not for the good of NZers. As we know, most politician's are not there for the good of all their country, but there for their select choice of people and they will use any means they deem necessary to get into power including racism and acting on people's fears. As government's of the world bail out greedy banks they continue to put in place measures that make the poor poorer. I thought society was about the people, not their bank balances. We have all seen that politicians use the information they want to use to get what they want. An example illustrates this when Mr Bush fed the American public information he wanted them to know. He twisted information he had that led to a war and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people and the British followed because their leader believed the bullshit too. Quite frankly Mr Bush should be in the Hague facing war crimes because he started a war quite literally based on lies but they have laws to protect their corrupt politician's, and yet they still dictate to other country's on what they should do. The real losers are the American people and all those innocents who continue to lose their lives because of one man, sound familiar. There is a better way but you are going to have to sacrifice your illusions of having control and remove this failure of a system, start putting the right people into governance instead, those who have had years of experience in their fields of practice like doctors in charge of health and professors or principals in charge of education etc. As for democracy ask the ancient Romans. Oh that's right you can't!
