The world's only white kiwi has this morning been undergoing an endoscopy at Wellington Zoo, after eating stones too large to pass through its digestive tract.

Technically a brown kiwi., Manukura's colour is caused by a rare genetic mutation.

Vets are trying to remove the stones from the five-month-old's stomach using an endoscope and a hook.

The kiwi was taken to Wellington Zoo from Pukaha Mt Bruce wildlife centre after she went off her food earlier this week.
