New Zealand rugby has had its fair share of famous brothers but the Meads, Going and Brooke families could never put four brothers in a starting line-up - unlike the Whitelocks in the Crusaders 19-8 pre-season win over the Hurricanes.
Luke, Sam, Adam and George Whitelock did not expect to one day dominate a Crusaders line-up, and parents Caroline and Braedon popped over from their Linton farm to watch their boys play in red and black.
“It was probably a special day when we look back on it when we get older,” says George Whitelock.
“It’s just the way it’s worked out, and we are very humbled by it all, it is a special day for the family,” says Braedon Whitelock.
It is the second time the brothers have played in a proper game together – the first was at Fielding High School in 2003.
