Why I do Declare…

Thu, 14 Jan 2010 10:15a.m.

That I am a “Harte” already! Mind you I’m not quite a Mrs yet… and I’m not really a real Harte just yet!!! But I have declared that I am!

Let me explain… 1 very important thing FH and I need to get done before the wedding (other than the Marriage License, which FH swears he’s taking care of) was to renew our passports!

As we’re travelling through the USA, we are required to have at least 6months left on our passports, and because their security is sooo tight they also require that the passports are the ‘new’ kind… the ones with hard covers that have some sort of chip in them.

So we both needed new ones (yup another damn expense!). I was then left with a bit of a conundrum, because if I reapplied for a new passport in time for our honeymoon, I would have to do so in my ‘old’ last name, as we aren’t married yet! But who wants to travel with their husband on their maiden name for THE NEXT 10 YEARS (and yes I’m too stingy to fork out another $150 to get another new passport!).

So I went investigating for a loophole (read: I asked mummy cos mummies know everything).

And viola! I could sign a statutory declaration in front of a lawyer, declaring that I wished to change my name from Carrie Anne X to Carrie Anne Harte! So all you brides out there that are having the same problem, remember this loophole… And the new passports are in the mail to us as at this very moment!

In other news, we are now only 43 sleeps away from the big day! And I’m pleased to report things are starting to get easier. At least one thing a day is being ticked off the list, however big or small it really helps to the feeling of progress. Mind you our lives are now being run by the precision of a boot camp with “The Mighty Calendar” which contains our whole lives and our daily and weekly ‘wedding’ stuff deadlines – but hey it’s doing the trick!

Right, now what does "The Mighty Calender" say i need to do today...?

Carried away blog

I'm getting married to my childhood sweetheart in Feb 2010. We live in our own home in Auckland, along with our 3 adorable, time consuming Meows. I'm creative, opinionated, indecisive, organised, imaginative, a little crazy and not very good at keeping quiet about things that excite me... so this is going to be my perfect playground!
