New Zealanders who are widowed, have paid off their mortgage or are living with no children, all have one thing in common; they’re happier than others.
A new survey has found that in 2011, we weren’t as happy as they year before.
But, it all depends on where you are in the country.
The survey asked more than 26,000 Kiwis whether they were happy and satisfied with their life.
It found:
- People were happiest in September, during the Rugby World Cup
- Homeowners with no mortgages were happier than those renting or paying theirs off
- Those widowed or married were happier than those divorced or single
- People living without children and those over 65 were among the happiest groups
Despite Wellington’s rank as one of the least happy areas in the country, no one 3 News spoke to was feeling blue.
While the gap slightly narrowed in 2011, women are still happier than men.
