Severe weather-related crashes shut down several stretches of highway in the Kansas City area in the United States.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the different crash sites but the extent of injuries wasn't immediately known.
Numerous chain reaction accidents were reported.
This one on Interstate 70, west of Kansas City, involved nearly two dozen vehicles.
Kansas State troopers said on Sunday that the roadway would be closed for several hours while the wreckage was being cleared.
Another accident on Interstate 35 involved up to 30 vehicles.
A short time later, another pileup along Interstate 435 in Kansas City involved up to 40 vehicles.
Authorities are urging motorists to be more cautious while driving in dangerous, wintry conditions.
