After four victories in a row, the Breakers take on the Perth Wildcats this Thursday. Both teams sit equal top of the Australian NBL ladder but there's more on the line that just leading the league.
This result could shape the playoffs, as whichever team wins the most games between them in the regular season secures home court advantage throughout the finals.
“There's a little bit riding on this with top spot on the line home court advantage in the playoffs pretty crucial for us, I don't wanna say its another game, but it’s a pretty important other game,” says forward Tom Abercrombie.
The last time the two teams met, Perth embarrassed the Breakers beating them by 24 points and giving them the all important edge in the title race.
“We've been pretty grounded no matter what happens and we keep focussed game by game and if you look to far ahead that when things slip… You gotta take it game by game and let the championship come when it does,” says forward Gary Wilkinson.
A key factor on Thursday will be the matchup between two of the leagues top point guards, Breaker Cedric Jackson and Wildcat Damian Martin.
“Two very good point guards, and both key players in making the teammates better, but at the end of the day there should be plenty good matchups around the floor and it should be a good game,” says coach Andrej Lemanis.
